A sought-after position has become available for an experienced PR with a passion for travel and media to join the Black Diamond team. This role will be full-time office-based, offering the right candidate the opportunity to enjoy life in a fast-paced team in an integrated hands-on agency.

The position will work primarily on Visit California, working closely with the Visit California team, particularly the Travel Trade and Content / Social teams, and will report into the UK Account Director. The role also requires mentorship and management our incredible PR Manager (who oversees the press office and press trip programme), as well as being be part of Black Diamond’s wider PR team, working closely on projects, campaigns, and helping out on new business pitches.

This position will focus on innovative influencer campaigns, coordinating media partnerships, creating and managing broadcast opportunities and organising UK-based media events. Experience, implementation and in-depth knowledge of the above are all key to this position – we’re looking for someone who can bring creativity and dynamic thinking.

Black Diamond is located in Covent Garden in central London and has a work-hard/play-hard ethos. We are a team of 45 in total and are a fully integrated agency home to highly experienced in-house creative, digital, marketing, media planning, travel trade and PR professionals. The role will include the following:

  • Working closely with the PR Manager to create a high performance culture – maintain and grow California coverage in the market, develop new and innovative PR programmes across traditional and influencer media, instil an organisational framework
  • Creating annual work plans and strategies
  • Planning and implementation of high-level brand and media partnerships
  • Being visible and available to Visit California head office as an experienced link to the UK/Irish media and offer strategic counsel and insight
  • Help the PR Manager work on individual and group media visits, both proactivity and reactively
  • Budget management
  • Proactive and reactive media relations with UK & Irish press
  • Industry communications
  • Overseeing monthly report compiling
  • Reviewing and editing of press release and newsletter writing
  • Supporting on industry and consumer events – both media and trade
  • Organising media missions and meetings when clients are in-market – concept creation, venue sourcing and liaison, budget management and execution ensuring that team are given roles/responsibilities within programme management
  • Working alongside senior management on the growth and development of the individual members of the team and growth of the account

You must have:

  • Creative and strategic campaign experience
  • An understanding of the nuances of B2C and B2B PR
  • Experience working within a team and leading a junior member of staff
  • Experience managing and maintaining budgets and budget reporting
  • Sound experience in organising and hosting media visits (if not coming from a travel PR background then we need to see examples that demonstrate your ability and confidence to host groups)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and verbal communicating abilities – this role will require playing an active role in meetings and conference calls, as well as some presenting
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours with promotional activities, conferences, events, press trips and tradeshows
  • Excellent on and off-line media contacts across lifestyle and travel media is useful but not essential
  • Documents proving you are eligible to work in the UK
  • Ability to travel to the USA
  • A full current UK driving license is preferred
  • Knowledge of California would be a distinct advantage, but not essential
